I have been informed that the CTNERHI -research, documentation, publication and teaching centre dedicated to disability- will close by the end of the year 2009 by governmental decision.
The Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Santé Publique (EHESP, national school of Public Health, 2006) considers including disability in its academic curricula and research units. The EHESP has thus officially expressed its interest in incorporating the CTNERHI’s activities and staff. A project approved by the concerned parties.
For this project to come to reality, the EHESP must obtain the official authorization to raise the number of its teaching and research positions and to be granted the appropriate credit line. These requirements do not amount to such a level that it would justify to sacrifice the capital of knowledge and skills that the CTNERHI has built up over the last 35 years in the field of disability studies, -a field considerably overlooked in France-.
I therefore ask insistently the concerned public authorities to remove any administrative or financial obstacle that would come up against the transfer of the activities and staff of the CTNERHI to the EHESP.
The director of the CTNERHI informs of the last events about the transfer :
Dear readers,
Last July in a special flash, I made you part of the possible closure of CTNERHI at the end of this year.
It is with pleasure that I inform you today that an interministerial decision just taken to ensure the sustainability of the activity CTNERHI in 2010 and its incorporation in January 2011 at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Santé Publique..
You have been a lot during this last months to provide your support in anticipation of this decision and we wanted to thank you.
