General Information
The Florida Summit on Childhood Deafness will bring together those working in the field of childhood deafness ages birth through twenty two in order to provide an inclusive forum for exchange of information, closer collaborations, and opportunities for building shared support systems for Florida’s children and families.
This conference combines the resources of Florida groups related to deafness and offers one joint conference with a focus on children who are deaf or hard of hearing ages 0-22 and their families.
Who Should Attend
Those attending the Summit include teachers, parents, caregivers, speech pathologists, educational audiologists, program administrators, students, early interventionists, physicians, other related service providers, nurses, and other interested parties.
Conference Objectives
At the conclusion of the Summit, participants will:
Identify current perspectives, research and trends related to
recommended practice in the fields of detection, intervention
and education of children who are deaf or hard of hearing
Apply strategies to develop partnerships and connections
between professionals, the medical community, and families
in order to work together
Discuss strategies to facilitate social, communication, and
cognitive development of children who are deaf or hard of
hearing both at home and at school
Detail aspects of language and literacy development in
children who are deaf or hard of hearing
